Hello! I’m Tracy.
I am wife to my amazing husband Mark and mommy to our two adorable kids, ages seven and four. I work a full-time job in higher education by day. When I’m not chasing kids, hanging with my husband, or working, you’ll probably find me running, reading, or writing. These are the three R’s that keep me sane.
Being a working mom is not easy. I’ve often heard other moms make comments that they are trying to “just keep swimming” in an attempt to stay above the never-ending chaotic waters of working motherhood. Life can be a little overwhelming sometimes.
But I’ve realized that life can be beautiful, no matter how busy, no matter how hard, no matter how full. I love my life, the messy and the good.
Why Working Mom’s Balance?
When we live our lives in that near-drowning state we often miss the beauty, the joy, the love, and the purpose of life, which, in my opinion, is not a great place to live. We have one short life to live. I don’t want to live my life yelling, screaming, driving all over town, attending all of the right events, helping my kids participate in all of the right activities, and never taking a moment to simply enjoy life.
Achieving a perfect life balance where every piece of my life gets equal time will never happen. And I don’t think it should. Because in order to truly enjoy this one short life we have to live we must make deliberate, purposeful choices regarding our priorities. We must cut out the excess that doesn’t matter and choose to focus on the things that are most important. And we must stop and notice the beauty, the love, the grace, and the gift that is life.
This site is where I share the stories of what I’m learning. What I’m learning right now is that in order to keep up with all that life tries to throw our way, we must prioritize our health. We have to start by making sure we are healthy in body, healthy in our mind, and healthy in our spiritual life. When we put those things first, we have the energy, the strength, the focus, and the ability to tackle everything else.
But who can handle adding more things to the to-do list? If your health isn’t already a priority how in the world are you supposed to add that in? There is no time for one more thing, much less a complete overhaul of our physical, spiritual, and mental health.
Here, I share the small things. I’m not suggesting we overhaul our entire life, but change happens through tiny, incremental steps. On their own, they may not feel like they are making a big difference. But when you add all the tiny things up in a day, and a week, and a month, you begin to realize that you are overhauling your life. One itty bitty step at a time.
The working mom life is hard, it’s chaos, it’s busy, and it’s exhausting. I get it. The suggestions and ideas I share here are meant to be realistic and doable, no matter how busy your current life season is. The reality is you probably can’t implement everything, but you can begin somewhere. So begin. Start today. Find one little thing you can do to make a difference in your health and when you’re ready, find another.
My goal is that this place becomes a community for mothers to come and find hope and peace on this crazy journey. To be reminded of the things that matter most in life. To encourage and inspire each other. Life is about more than rushed mornings, long commutes, frustrating work days, and stressful bedtimes.
What can you find at Working Mom’s Balance?
WorkingMomsBalance.com is a website dedicated to providing realistic ideas to help working moms prioritize their health – mind, body, and spirit. We share information related to physical health, mental health, spiritual health, as well as topics on living an overall healthy lifestyle (healthy relationships, finances, etc). I fully believe in living the best life we can and offering our best self to the world. I think that everyone has a purpose and a calling; there is a reason God has placed you on this earth and it is our responsibility to use the gifts, talents, and resources he has blessed us with to fulfill that purpose.
I don’t believe God has called us to live a miserable, stressed out, unsatisfied life of chaos and busy-ness. We are called to live a joyful, prosperous, and abundant life. How do we balance living our best life and accomplishing our purpose while keeping up with all of life’s other responsibilities? That is what this blog is all about. We will never reach perfection, but here we do our best to show up and truly live.

I believe the first step to living our best life and fulfilling our purpose is to bring our best self to the world. We do this by focusing on our own health and wellness as a priority. If we aren’t healthy and well, in all areas of our being, then we aren’t functioning at our fullest ability.
Our health and wellness begins with our spiritual health. Our personal relationship with our Savior and the faith community He has placed us in. We can do nothing of value apart from God. His power working through us allows us to do all things.
We also recognize the value of positive thinking. God has directed us to fix our thoughts on things that are right, true, honorable, lovely, excellent and praiseworthy. There is power in our thoughts that affects every part of our life. We take every thought captive to the obedience of God to lead us into the full life God has designed for us.
Next, we take care of our bodies, our temples. Without good physical health we will not have the energy, strength, and stamina required to pursue all that God has called us to. We rest well, we exercise regularly, and we feed our body the nutritious food it needs to work as God has designed it.
Life is a journey. We should always be learning, growing, improving, and striving to bring the best version of ourselves to the world. We set goals and honor our priorities, we manage our time well, and we learn to become good stewards of the financial resources God has blessed us with. We recognize the value of living an organized life and we intentionally pursue our passions and life purpose.
Our family is of utmost importance to us. They are the reason we do the things we do. We honor and prioritize our marriage. It is a gift from God and meant to last for our lifetime, so we actively work to have a strong relationship with our spouse.
Parenting is not an easy task. But we trust that God has specifically chosen and equipped us for this calling. We prioritize our children and actively work to mother them in the best way we know how. We shower them with unconditional love, compassion, and support. We teach them about God and lead them by example.
Everybody needs to eat. We honor our families by providing healthy and nutritious meals and sometimes special treats.
